As a Soloist Dancer

In these companies as a soloist dancer Ms. Bustillo performed an eclectic repertory ranging from the Classics, such as La Fille Mal Gardee, Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, Coppelia,
Swan Lake, and repertory from the Bouronville School, such as Koservatoriet, Flower Festival at Genzano Pas de Deaux and William Tell Pas de Six.
Her contemporary repertory included pieces by Gerald Arpino, Robert Joffrey, Jerome Robbins, George Balanchine, Glen Tetley and Frederick Ashton among many others.
In the development of these roles she was coached by these prestigious choreographers and by the Ballet Masters such as Robert Joffrey, Andre Eglevsky, Frederic Franklin,
Ben Stevenson, Luis Fuente, Basil Thompson, and Rochelle Zide.In the Bournville Repertory, she had special coaching with Lillian Moore and Hans Brenna, at that time, the foremost authority on the Bournonville School.
As Teacher and Director of Dance Programs
- Luis Fuente Estudio de Danza – Zelma Bustillo co-founded and was co-director of the prestigious school, Luis Fuente Estudio de Danza in Madrid, Spain. This school trained dancers who went on to dance in major companies such as Ballet Nacional de España, directed by Nacho Duato, the Stuttgart Ballet, Netherlands Dans Theater, English National Ballet, and the Joffrey Ballet. Ms. Bustillo also worked as Assistant Director and Ballet Mistress for the award-winning company Ballet de Luis Fuente.
- Centro Cultural Nicolás Salmeron – One of Spain's major state supported schools invited Ms. Bustillo to develop a very extensive dance program including Ballet, Modern Dance,and Jazz.
- University of Dramatic Arts in Torrelodones, Madrid (Affiliated with Kent University at Canterbury, England) – Developed a movement program specially for the drama students incorporating ballet, modern dance, and improvisational techniques.
- Joffrey School – Ms. Bustillo was on the faculty of the Joffrey Ballet School Summer Intensive in New York City for 12 years, and worked with John Magnus in the Joffrey Midwest Summer Intensive Program.
- Ballet Hispanico School – As Artistic Director of the School at Ballet Hispanico Ms. Bustillo created a syllabus and curriculum and developed the program to create a pre-professional level. Many of these dancers went on to perform in the Ballet Hispanico School Ensemble. This ensemble also directed by Ms. Bustillo, performed extensively throughout New York City and the surrounding areas. Some of these dancers also performed with the Ballet Hispanico Company.
- The New School University in NYC - was on the faculty and taught ballet technique and pointe in the BFA program.
- The Dance Extension, Columbus, Ohio – Ms. Bustillo was on the faculty of the Dance Extension where she taught Ballet, Pointe, Repertory, and also choreographed for the Cooperative Dance Project.
- Joffrey Ballet School – As Director of the School’s Junior Division, Ms. Bustillo worked with the John Magnus to re-structure the program by developing a curriculum and a basic syllabus for levels one to five.
